    Hollywood Mourns Iconic ‘Star Wars’ Star Carrie Fisher

    Carrie Fisher, best known as Princess Leia from the Star Wars film saga, died Tuesday morning after suffering a heart attack while on a flight from London to Los Angeles the week before. She was 60.

    “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” family spokesperson Simon Halls confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on behalf of Fisher’s daughter Lourd on Tuesday. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly.”

    Fisher was a beloved sci-fi icon and author and was honored by many in Hollywood, including family, friends, co-stars and industry colleagues after the heartbreaking news. 

    George Lucas, creator of the StarWars saga, released a statement, saying, “Carrie and I have been friends most of our adult lives. She was extremely smart; a talented actress, writer and comedienne with a very colorful personality that everyone loved. In StarWars she was our great and powerful princess – feisty, wise and full of hope in a role that was more difficult than most people might think. My heart and prayers are with Billie, Debbie and all Carrie’s family, friend
