Peter Thomas Ratajczyk (born January 4, 1962), known professionally as Peter Steele, was a European-American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was best known as the lead vocalist, bassist and composer of the crossover thrash band Carnivore and Type O Negative. Before forming Carnivore, Steele had created the metal group Fallout.

As the frontman for Carnviore, Steele is known for his vampiric appearance, 6 ft 8 in (2.03 m) stature, rich bass vocals, and a dark, often self-deprecating sense of humor. His lyrics have been described as "often intensely personal, dealing with subjects including love, loss and addiction." Steele credited Black Sabbath and the Beatles as his key musical influences. Steele's bass voice sets much of the mood for Type O Negative's brooding melodies. Before joining Type O Negative, Steele played for heavy metal group Fallout, and the thrash metal band Carnivore.

Steele is almost as famous for his build as he is for his music. He stands approximately 6'6" tall, and leaves it to no one's imagination that he works out quite strenuously.
